INTERNATIONAL SMALL SCALE STEAMUP - DIAMONDHEAD, MS 2012
WRAP UP
REPORT BY JERRY RESHEW
Its finally
over , and it was a smash from what I’ve heard through the numerous
emails and calls since we went back to our normal lives. The hotel was
abuzz with all sorts of steam activity through the week, from trains to
boats, from stationary engines to steam tractors and trucks, and a good
time was had by all.
At our
opening meeting we did pay a respectful silence to those of our community
who passed away in the last year. They will be missed :
Susan
Wolcott
Helen
Bigelow
Major
General Robert Houghton, Royal Marines Ret.
Glen Ward
Marvin Nite
Bill
Colleran
Our new
main track was up and running three hours after Richard Jacobs and the
Bayou Live Steamers unloaded it from the trailer. It is a fine addition to
the Steamup and all who tried it commented on the silky smooth transitions
at the curves. The extra effort by the guys who ran rags around the tracks
to keep the rails clean is appreciated.
As soon as
we get to leave the questions arise : How many people showed up? Where are
they from? I’ll attempt to give you the latest : Total number here : 163,
Where from?
