A Spring Steam Up
was held at the Tribes place on the Indian River in Merritt Island,
Florida on April 18th, 2012. It was a typical beautiful spring day and
would be one of the last steam ups before the summer doldrums that strike
Florida steamers much like the winter ones do up north. Many of the Central
Florida steamers were there, Norm and Ruth Saley, Bill Chamberlain, Jerry
and Judy Sheehan, Bill Ford, Harold Dunsford, Mike & Diane Albert and John
and Melinda Tribe.
Regulars like Paul
Levy, John and Maria Riley, Bob and Carol Simpson, Bill and Beverly
Larkin, Harry Gray and Walt Leddy all had conflicts and were missed. New
steamers or soon to be steamers were Jeremiah Gordon and Ron and Margaret
Maddison. Interested
bystanders included Wayne Heath, Jack Ferrell and Jean Dana. They had an
entertaining introduction to the world of live steam.
